Councillor Colin Ablitt has resigned from Lichfield District Council.
He was forced to step down from his post due to work commitments.
Council staff were informed of his resignation, effective from May 7, yesterday.
Mr Ablitt told The Lichfield Blog:
“I have left Lichfield District Council, but it has nothing to do with a moat or a duck island! My employment was not consistent with my representing a political party elsewhere.”
Mr Ablitt had been a Conservative councillor for the Whittington ward.
