THE new chair of Burntwood Town Council has been elected.
Members of the authority chose Cllr Sue Woodward for the role at a meeting on 20th May.
Her deputy for the coming year will be Cllr Michael Galvin
Cllr Woodward said:
“It is an honour to take up the role as chair of Burntwood Town Council and again I thank members for their support.
“I am very proud of our council and the innovative ways in which it serves our town and its residents, and will continue to do so.
“I was previously chair in 1998 and so much has changed in the past 28 years but Burntwood Town Council has continued and will continue to move forward and embrace opportunities as they arise.
“I particularly ask all residents to get involved in the newly adopted Blueprint for Burntwood in partnership with Lichfield District Council, Creative Burntwood in partnership with The Garrick, our work with Limitless and with the many community organisations we support.
“I have a hard act to follow Cllr Laura Ennis and have been astounded, as we all have, by her fundraising efforts.
“I do hope to be able to raise funds over this next year for a local charity which is very dear to my heart in Burntwood Be A Friend.
“The organisation was set up during the pandemic and served our town magnificently at a time of great need. Now a registered charity, it continues to serve people in need locally, as well as encouraging wider engagement and volunteering and running the community store.
“I hope everyone will become store members and that they will learn more about Burntwood Be A Friend in the coming months.”
