A health chief has urged people in Lichfield and Burntwood to check on neighbours as temperatures continue to dip below freezing.
Although the worst of the snow has now gone, cold days and nights are set to continue over the weekend.
Cllr Alan White, deputy leader of Staffordshire County Council and Cabinet member for health, care and wellbeing, said it was important people kept an eye on friends, relatives and neighbours, particularly those who are older or have existing health conditions
“With more freezing temperatures forecast over next few days we’re encouraging people to ensure they look after themselves and those around them,” he said. “Simple steps like keeping your house warm and ensuring you or your family have any medication they need can help.
“People who have an older relative or neighbour may want to check on them during the cold period as they may not want to leave their homes.
“The weather is due to warm up slightly next week, so preventing ill health which can be worsened by cold weather is the key.”
