Tributes have been paid to a singer who died after being hit by a train in Lichfield.
Sam Maritza, who performed with city-based band China Red was killed on the line near Trent Valley railway station on June 9.
A message posted by the band on their Facebook page said:
“Can’t believe what’s happened. Such a talent lost. Our love goes to the Maritza family.”
Another online tribute to the singer from Pollyorange added:
“She had an amazing energy, a spirit that would lift the room. Fun, capricious and above all else, a really lovely young woman. Her chaotic and creative ways were inspiring and her style was unique. She didn’t fit into any mould, but perhaps broke a few along the way!”
The singer’s group made it through to the live shows of the Live and Unsigned competition, giving the band a chance of performing at London’s O2 Arena. The video below shows them practising their entry for the live show in Leamington Spa.
