THE new management team at Lichfield City saw their side suffer a 2-0 defeat at Kidsgrove Athletic.
Nic Oakley and Simon Lyons were appointed to replace Matty Lovatt the day before the game – and their first squad featured some familiar faces as Luke Childs returned to the starting line-up and former club captain Dan Lomas was named among the substitutes.
The first half saw City look to shrug off the defensive frailties that have plagued their season so far, with Tom Carter making a good save after 20 minutes to ensure his side went in level at the break.
But Kidsgrove made the breakthrough three minutes into the second period as Will Harderman poked home an Ashley Leather cross.
Any hopes of a comeback were dashed 15 minutes from time when substitute Clayton Malbon added a second to ensure the hosts took all three points.
