LICHFIELD City's defensive woes continue as they were hit for six in a home defeat by Witton Albion.
The result means Matty Lovatt's men remain pointless in the Northern Premier League West Division after losing their three opening fixtures and conceding 14 goals in the process.
New signing Lewi Burnside had the first chance of note in the game as he flashed an early shot wide.
But Witton took advantage of City's defensive frailties as a loose ball was crossed into the box for Freddy Garbutt to score from close range after ten minutes.
It wasn't long before the lead was doubled when Tom Hoyle's low strike was deflected into the net.
Things went from bad to worse on the half-hour mark as Joe Edwards found the top corner from outside the box.
Callum Griffin sent an effort over the bar as Lichfield desperately tried to rally.
But Witton continued to threaten before the break with Tom Carter being forced into a near-post save, while a corner also went close when it struck the upright.
City's Dylan Thomas fired over the bar early in the second period with a curling strike.
Normal service was resumed on 53 minutes, though, when Edwards made it 4-0 from a free-kick.
The fifth arrived five minutes later as Garbutt made it a personal brace – and then moments later it was 6-0 as Hoyle tucked home on the rebound after a good stop by Carter.
Lichfield did bag a consolation ten minutes from time when Jordan Davies powered home.
Ethan Buckley saw a late shot saved as a miserable afternoon for City left them rooted to the foot of the early-season table.
