A developer has denied deliberately failing to tell villagers in Lichfield that a new housing estate could be built near their homes.
Residents in Streethay complained after Miller Homes advertised a public exhibition about their new Foden Park scheme on land off Burton Road.
Their anger came after residents in Boley Park were informed of the exhibition at St Michael’s Hall.
However, Miller Homes have said they were “let down” by a leaflet distributor. A spokesperson explained:
“In good faith, Miller employed a reputable company to distribute these leaflets. However, they were let down by this company and so leaflets are now being distributed out to these areas.
“We have commenced a public consultation exercise for Foden Park, which is an area of land situated to the north of Streethay and East of Lichfield, where we hope to build 850 new homes. Miller held its first public exhibition and there will be two further exhibitions, the first of which will take place on July 9 at St Michael’s Church Hall between 10am and 2pm.
“A further exhibition will be arranged to allow Streethay residents the chance to view proposals, which also include a primary school, neighbourhood centre and possible leisure centre.
“Comments made by visiting members of the public will be considered by Miller Homes, who hope to submit plans to the District Council later this summer.”
However, campaigners from the Streethay Against Development group have claimed that housing on such a scale would be “catastrophic” for their village.
