Clergy from the Diocese of Lichfield will be bidding to move a step closer to retaining the Church Times Cricket Cup when they take on their colleagues from Salisbury in the semi-final.
The clash takes place at The Oratory School in Reading tomorrow (July 4) with Lichfield bidding to lift the trophy they won for the first time in the competition’s 60 year history last year.
Should they be successful, the team of parish clergy, chaplains and bishops from across the region would be the first team to retain the title since 1991.
The Diocese of Lichfield team will be:
- The Revd Jeff Reynolds – Methodist Superintendent Minister of Stafford and Chaplain to HMP Stafford.
- The Rt Revd Clive Gregory – Bishop of Wolverhampton.
- The Revd Paul Darlington – Vicar of Holy Trinity, Oswestry.
- The Rt Revd Mark Rylands – Bishop of Shrewsbury.
- The Revd Arthur Hack – Warden of Dovedale House and NS Curate of Alstonfield, Butterton, Ilam, Warslow with Elkstone and Wetton.
- The Revd Matthew Lefroy – Team Vicar of Madeley and Rural Dean of Telford Severn Gorge (Diocese of Hereford).
- The Revd Peter Hart – Vicar of Cannock and Huntington and of Hatherton.
- The Revd Andy Ackroyd – Currently working with the Mid Trent Team and Stafford Methodist Circuit (from September 9 to be Team Rector of Cheswardine, Childs Ercall, Hales, Hinstock, Sambrook and Stoke on Tern.
- The Revd Richard Reeve – Team Rector of Tettenhall Regis and Assistant Rural Dean of Trysull.
- The Revd Ian Poole – Team Vicar of St James, Fordhouses, Bushbury.
- Andy Morgan – Pioneer Minister of West Bromwich Network Church.
The winner of the semi-final will go on to play either Guildford or Manchester in the final.
