A DOG has been rescued following a house fire in Burntwood.
The blaze happened at 10.35pm on Sunday (26th April) at a property on Queen Street.
Crews were called after reports of smoke coming from the first floor.
While the residents of the house had escaped unharmed, firefighters rescued the dog from the property and gave it oxygen therapy before it was taken to a vet for precautionary checks.
Watch manager Richard Rudge, from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said:
“The occupants of the house did the right thing by immediately getting out and waiting outside for us.
“You should never try and tackle house fires yourself or return to collect valuables.”
Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental.
