Drivers in Lichfield are bracing themselves for delays as a new set of roadworks begins.
Work has begun on a 22-week project to widen Wood End Lane in Fradley at its junction with the A38,
It comes on the back of a 12-week closure of the Burton Old Road at its junction with the A38 in Streethay.
The Fradley improvements will see a new right hand turn lane installed on the widened section, as well as improved road marking on the Wellington Crescent roundabout and improvements to bus stops in Common Lane.
Staffordshire County Council’s economic growth leader, Cllr Mark Winnington, said: “This scheme will help improve traffic flow from a busy business development onto the A38.
“We know traffic bottlenecks are bad for business and so look forward to opening up this junction in the coming weeks.
“We’d like to thank people in advance for their patience while work is carried out and we’re sure people and businesses will appreciate the long-term benefits.”
The scheme is being funded by the Prologis development site on Nanscawen Road, off Wood End Lane. During the works, there will be some temporary traffic management which will include closing the north bound slip road on to the A38. A signed diversion route will be put in place.
