A series of drop-in sessions in Lichfield are set to give local residents a chance to get answers on the development of HS2.
The controversial high speed rail route is set to cut through parts of the city and surrounding villages.
Members of the HS2 phase one engagement team will be answering questions at a series events across the region in the coming months:
- October 26, 1pm to 3pm – Drayton Bassett Women’s Institute
- November 4, 10am to 1pm – Lichfield Guildhall
- November 9, 1pm to 3pm – Whittington Village Hall
- November 30, 5pm to 7pm – Hints Village Hall
- February 1, 1pm to 3pm – Drayton Bassett Women’s Institute
- February 22, 5pm to 7pm – Fradley Village Hall
- March 1, 4.30pm to 6.30pm – Kings Bromley Village Hall
- March 29, 5pm to 7pm, Armitage Village Hall
The sessions will be a chance for local residents to talk about the project and air any concerns or issues.
Julie King, director of community engagement for HS2 Ltd, said: “How we and our contractors behave is as important to the railway’s success as delivering the project on time and ensuring value for money for the taxpayer.
“Our aspiration is to be a good neighbour every single day, by respecting the people and communities we impact and being sensitive to their needs, earning our social licence to operate.
“To be successful, we need to work with communities and build respectful, long-term relationships. I appreciate this will take time – we will need to demonstrate we are listening to and acting on the concerns of communities.
“Engagement managers will be based out in the communities, providing timely responses to questions or complaints and acting as the voice of their community within the organisation. We have set out the ten commitments that we will use as the basis to measure our success, and that of our suppliers, in how we deliver the new railway. “
