WARTIME Britain is being explored at an event at Lichfield Cathedral next month.
The official launch of The Longest Yarn 2 – a textile installation depicting scenes of life on the Home Front during the war – will take place on 4th May.
To mark the occasion, a range of activities will take place from 10am to midday, including vehicles from The Military Trust, displays by local cadets and a chance to take part in a new community craft project to create knitted and crocheted poppies ahead of a display of remembrance in 2027.
Philippa Hubbard, from Lichfield Cathedral said:
“This Bank Holiday celebration is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn together, make together and take part in a project that will become part of Lichfield Cathedral’s remembrance for years to come.
“Everyone is welcome – whether you’re a seasoned crafter or simply curious.””
The Longest Yarn 2 will be on display at the cathedral throughout May following the launch.
