A Lichfield secondary school’s plans for new fencing and gates around the site will help deal with “significant concerns” linked to safeguarding of staff and students.
Planning permission is being sought for the scheme at The Friary School as part of a bid to crackdown on trespassers on the site.
If approved, the work would see new access barriers constructed along with the new 2.3metre high fencing around the 110 hectare school’s land.
A planning statement said there had been “significant concerns” over people being able to access the school site.
“The development seeks to improve safeguarding of pupils and staff at the school following a number of incidents of trespassers gaining access to the site during school hours and also vulnerable pupils leaving the site without authorisation.
“The fencing layout has been carefully considered to ensure that it meets the needs of the school whilst minimising any aesthetic or environmental impact on the local area.”
