A field used for grazing sheep could become a holiday destination for glampers sleeping over in shepherd’s huts.
Plans to turn the agricultural land at Goose Lane, Abbots Bromley, into a glamping site have been submitted.
If the application is approved by East Staffordshire Borough Council, ten shepherd’s huts are earmarked for the 7.4 acre site, alongside four bell tents.
The application said:
“The shepherd’s huts would be fully self-contained including showers and WC facilities. The site would also include wooden structures for guests of the bell tents; these consist of two toilet blocks, two shower blocks and two outdoor kitchens
“The site would also consist of three 20ft shipping containers for storage and also a central meet and greet and social space for the guests of the glamping site. These will be clad in reclaimed wood to fit in with the surroundings.
“There will be parking for up to 16 vehicles in the first field, using all eco matting in order to protect the ground and show the route in and out of the site.
“Our intention is also to plant on site, incorporating filling gaps in hedgerows as well as wild flowers to encourage wildlife and pollinating bees.
“In order to keep our effect on the local wildlife to a minimum we will only be using low wattage festoon-style lighting at low level, to guide our guests safely around the site as opposed to trying to light up the sky.”
