The first Syrian refugee familes are set to arrive in Lichfield and Burntwood in September.
A meeting of Lichfield District Council was told that the district was scheduled to be in the second phase of those coming to Staffordshire.
The local authority has already agreed to welcome four or five families fleeing the conflict in Syria.
Cllr Colin Greatorex, Cabinet member for housing, said: “The first of the four or five families will arrive in September.
“We are in phase two for Staffordshire so other areas will take in refugees before we do.”
Labour’s Cllr Eric Drinkwater called for an update on the situation following rumours Greenwood House in Burntwood would be used to house those coming to the area.
Cllr Greatorex insisted that while those rumours were untrue, all other options – including buying new properties – were beind discussed.
“We are talking to landlords and the private sector in a bid to identify how we will accomodate these families,” he said. “Buying homes for this purpose is still up for discussion.
“All of the options will remain open until nearer the time when they arrive in September.”
