A LOCAL footballer is taking on a running challenge for charity.

Courtney Dilger, who plays for Lichfield City Women, will take on the Great Manchester Run in May in aid of Cancer Research UK.

She said:

“Cancer isn’t something I’ve only read about or seen from a distance – it has affected the people I love most.

“I’m running in honour of my two grandads, who both courageously battled cancer, and in loving memory of my mom, who we sadly lost to this disease back in June 2024.

“Whatever I did in life, she was always right there supporting me. She had a way of putting everyone else first, even when she was struggling herself.

“This run is my way of remembering them, supporting those still fighting and helping fund the research that gives families hope for the future.”

People can donate via an online fundraising page.
