A residents group in Burntwood has backed plans for a two centre option for GP provision in the area.

South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) is currently holding a public consultation on the future of eight GP practices in Burntwood.

Among the options being considered are:

  • six GP Practices to be based at a site at Burntwood Leisure Centre and two GP Practices based at a site at Greenwood House
  • six GP Practices to be based at a site in Robin’s Road (next to Morrisons Supermarket) and two GP Practices based at a site at Greenwood House
  • eight GP Practices to be based in one building at a site in Robin’s Road.

But Burntwood Action Group (BAG) have opted not to support the latter of two sites.

In their newsletter, the group – which came into existence over plans for development on greenbelt land in the area – said:

“We have taken a view to support the two health centre option. We consider that we need improved local facilities, rather than having to travel beyond Sankeys Corner to visit a GP.”

But BAG are also keen for residents to have their say individually on the issue.

Questionnaires have been sent out to all local people and can be returned to the Burntwood Health Centre before the November 9 deadline.

If any residents have not had the questionnaire, they can have their say online or by calling 01889 571758 or emailing sue.nabbs@southstaffspct.nhs.uk.
