HAMMERWICH had to settle for a winning draw after being frustrated by a stubborn Pelsall side – but it proved to be enough to keep them top of the table.
The Hammers opted to bat first, but saw opener Imran Qadir become the first wicket to fall with the scoreboard on 23.
But the home side showed batting depth as four players – Tom Wright, Callum Brodrick, Scott Elstone and Craig Jennings – all passed the personal half-century mark as the innings ended on an impressive 290-7.
Gurshan Singh was the pick of the Pelsall bowlers with figures of 3-61.
Sajid Ahmadzai made an early breakthrough with the ball as he removed Thomas Peace for a duck with the scoreboard on 18-1.
Gurshan Singh was next to go with the score on 32 when he was bowled by John Jennings.
But knocks of 36 and 39 respectively from Ahsan Akbar and Todd Enderson helped Pelsall to 167-5 from their 50 overs.
Milford Hall’s win over Tamworth 2nds means Hammerwich remain top of the South Staffordshire Cricket League by two points.
