Rail travel in Lichfield took a step back in time as a historic journey took place for the first time since the 1960s.

The GWR Pannier steamed along the cross-city line for the first time in decades as part of a special journey for rail enthusiasts.

The service – which was put on by Vintage Trains – travelled from Tyseley to Walsall, before heading to Aston and Birmingham International where they heading for Lichfield City station to pick up passengers.

The train then travelled along the South Staffs Line, stopping off at Alrewas to take on water en route to Knighton.
