A local coronary care unit has been upgraded to include single sex bays.
The development at Queen’s Hospital in Burton-on-Trent means care for patients from Lichfield will now meet national standards.
Carol Hicks, who runs the unit and helped design the new-look ward, said the change over was part of an ongoing drive to improve cardiac facilities for patients. She said:
“The remodelled ward offers us greater flexibility to cope with any extra demand and allows us to nurse men and women separately which is very important for our patients and an area we have worked hard to improve.”
