VISITORS to the Lichfield Proms in Beacon Park will be able to enjoy an improved stage and screen, organisers have said.
Thousands of people are expected to turn out to hear live music from the City of Lichfield Concert Band and the British Police Symphony Orchestra this evening, 5th September.
The free community event will also offer an expanded food and drink offer alongside the usual funfair – both of which open from 3pm.
Lichfield District Council said an improved stage and larger screen would also help crowds enjoy their evening.
Cllr Phil Whitehouse, Lichfield District Council’s cabinet member for operational services, parks and waste, said:
"Proms is one of those really special events that brings thousands of people together in our award-winning Beacon Park.
"We’ve made some changes this year to make even more of the event, with a new stage and screen, a completely refreshed food and drink offer and the village opening from 3pm so people can come down earlier and enjoy the atmosphere.
"I’d like to say a huge thank you to all the businesses that have sponsored and supported Proms this year. Delivering an event of this scale and keeping it free for thousands of people to enjoy simply wouldn’t be possible without their support.
"We’re incredibly grateful to every one of them for helping us bring this wonderful event to Beacon Park once again."
The City of Lichfield Concert Band will take to the stage from 6.30pm, before the British Police Symphony Orchestra returns for the main programme with compère Danny Mizon.
