A BURNTWOOD school has implemented a “lockdown procedure” after an incident involving a former pupil.
Chase Terrace Academy’s headteacher Nicola Mason confirmed in a letter to parents that precautionary measures were taken at around midday today (4th February).
She said students were “at no point at risk” due to the incident.
The headteacher said:
“We had an incident where an ex-student was on site in our main reception and refused to leave.
“As a precaution a lockdown procedure was initiated to ensure that staff were able to keep students in classrooms and be absolutely sure that students were safe should the incident escalate.
“At no point were any students at risk. The situation was contained in within the main reception.”
Ms Mason added that police attended the school to remove the individual.
She said:
“As a parent myself, I completely understand the stress and worry that such procedures bring. Please be reassured that our children are our first priority and we do everything we can to put their safety first.
“Everything we did today was to prevent risk and to keep our children safe at all times.”
