AN interim injunction has been secured in a bid to stop unauthorised development on land in Burntwood.
Lichfield District Council successfully applied for the order at the High Court of Justice in Birmingham for the site off Woodhouses Road.
The injunction takes immediate effect and aims to maintain the current state of the land while ongoing legal proceedings continue.
The order prevents any further unauthorised development or occupation of the site.
However, the court did grant two limited exceptions following a request from the defendants. These will allow for the reinstatement of a basic water supply, alongside the erection of two wooden sheds to provide toilet, shower, washing and storage facilities.
No other construction, development works or the stationing of additional caravans will be permitted though.
Cllr Richard Cox, Lichfield District Council's cabinet member for community and public protection, said:
"We understand residents have been concerned about activity on this site and want reassurance that the council is taking action.
"Since becoming aware of the unauthorised development, the council has continued to pursue the appropriate planning and legal processes available to us. Securing this interim injunction is a significant step and demonstrates our commitment to ensuring planning regulations are upheld.
"We will continue to monitor the site closely and take appropriate action where necessary to ensure compliance with the terms of the injunction."
