JUDE Taylor’s second half strike earned all three points for Lichfield City against Corby Town.
His composed 65th minute finish was enough to separate the two sides and saw Ivor Green’s men leapfrog the visitors to go fifth in the table.
There was little in the way of clear-cut chances as both defences dealt with crosses and corners into the box during a cagey first half.
The closest City came was a Taylor header that found the side-netting.
The second half immediately saw Corby go on the offensive with a cross striking the post.
At the other end, Taylor saw his shot deflected before being gathered by visiting keeper Jake Laban.
Lichfield keeper Brendon Bunn made a good save to keep the scores level before the game’s decisive moment.
Neat play out wide saw Taylor jink into the box before sitting a defender down, rounding the keeper and slotting home to give City the lead.
Jack Edwards saw a shot saved by Laban as Lichfield looked to stretch their advantage, while Taylor almost added his second only to be denied by the keeper’s outstretched foot.
There was a late chance for Corby to steal a point, but Bunn saved well to ensure his side collected the win.
