Keeper reveals how manager’s words of wisdom helped secure Chasetown FC win

Goalkeeper Ryan Price has revealed how manager Charlie Blakemore’s words of wisdom ensured Chasetown booked their place in the First Round of the FA Trophy.

The Scholars won their replay against Workington 4-0 after grinding out a 0-0 draw in Cumbria on Saturday (November 20).

And Price has lifted the lid on how Blakemore ensured his troops grasped the opportunity to set up a clash with Kettering Town.

He explained:

“Charlie just told us to make sure we didn’t let the preparation we did for Saturday’s game go to waste. We haven’t really performed in midweek games this season so he made sure to remind us of that.

“He’s always able to fire us up for games.”

While the Scholars enjoyed an overnight stay before the original tie, Workington made the return trip from Cumbria on the day of the replay.

And Price believes the Scholars’ planning paid off. He told The Lichfield Blog:

“We prepared right as a squad to enable us to get the replay in the first place, so a lot of credit has to go to the club for that.”
