THE Labour candidate for a Lichfield City Council by-election says he will “fight hard” for residents and businesses.
The Stowe ward will be contested on 13th February following the resignation of Scott Hollingsworth.
Human rights lawyer Matthew Turner, who will represent Labour on the ballot paper, said he was keen to stand up for matters that impact on the lives of local people.
He said:
“As a human rights barrister, I stand up for the right of others every day – and I would fight just as hard for the residents and businesses of Stowe.
“I will bring all my skills and experience to the role and work tirelessly to make our great city even better.
“As the father of a baby girl, I want Lichfield to the be the best possible place to grow up and grow old in.”
The leader of Lichfield City Council, Cllr Rosie Harvey-Coggins, said:
“Lichfield City Council has been at people’s service for centuries – and Matthew would be a huge asset to the council with his experience and his passion to make people’s lives better.”
