CHASETOWN suffered last minute heartbreak as they were denied all three points at Nantwich Town.
The hosts had the first chance of note after nine minutes when Patrick Kennedy's free header from a corner went wide of the target.
The Scholars had their first chance of note ten minutes later when Matt Hearsey also flashed a header past the post.
But the opening goal went to Nantwich when Joe Pigott's effort found the net.
Home keeper Yusuf Mersin was called into action to deny Kyle Moseley as the Scholars looked for a way back into the game, while Kevin Monteiro's long range shot cleared the crossbar.
At the other end, Kennedy forced a save from Curtis Pond as the hosts looked to try and double their advantage.
Chasetown came out the brighter of the two sides in the second half, but failed to find the elusive equaliser in the opening exchanges.
Nantwich weathered the initial storm before putting pressure on the visitors with Iwan Roberts and Joe Collins both forcing saves from Pond.
The Scholars levelled things up on 65 minutes when Hearsey swept the ball home.
The home side tried to hit back immediately, but Aidan Roxburgh's effort was just wide of the target.
Chasetown got their nose in front on 72 minutes when Hearsey beat the offside trap before dinking the ball over Mersin to make it 2-1.
But there was late drama in the last minute when Nantwich were awarded a penalty. Josh Hancock's spot kick was superbly kept out by Pond, but he couldn't prevent Fenton Green from tucking home to ensure the points were shared.
