The leader of Burntwood Town Council has promised residents that money will not be wasted on his watch.

The Conservative-controlled council has drawn up proposals to spend more than £53,000 on improvements to its Old Mining College Centre headquarters.
It comes after a previous plan was put on hold in July.

But Cllr Pullen insisted the proposals were not set in stone – and added that a clear case needed to be made for each item before any cheques are signed off.
“Where possible we will be using money provided by developers as part of their section 106 obligations, as well as earmarked reserves,” Cllr Pullen said.
“I can give the residents of Burntwood my personal assurance that there will be no profligacy, and that every pound spent will have a solid business case behind it.”
The plans to give the Old Mining College Centre a makeover have come as part of the town council’s plans to improve the usage of the building.
Cllr Pullen said that while some work was necessary in order to ensure the continual use of the building, other uses could be found for it with the right investment.
“As well as obligations as tenants of the building, we have multiple opportunities to both generate revenue and enhance the functionality of the OMCC as a community hub,” he said.
