Lichfield’s development leader has insisted the area is determined to get its “grubby little hands” on some of the £9million fund to kickstart developments.
The Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) has launched the pot of money to boost the building of new homes, with a particular target on those which have received plannig permission but have not seen work start.
The programme is intended to support developments of between 10 and 100 houses.
Cllr Ian Pritchard, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet member for economic growth, development and environment, insisted the local authority was keen to tap into the resource.
“We are aware of this money,” he told a meeting of the council this week. “And we are certainly trying to get our grubby little hands on it.
“If we can, then this money will help housing projects in Lichfield and Burntwood get going.”
