People in Lichfield and Burntwood are being urged to keep an eye on older relatives and neighbours as the cold snap begins to bite.
Temperates are forecast to be below zero in the coming days across the country.
Staffordshire County Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for health, care and wellbeing, Alan White, said he hoped members of the community would help out vulnerable residents.
“With freezing temperatures forecast over next few days we’re encouraging people to ensure they look after themselves and family, friends and neighbours,” he said. “Simple steps like keeping your house warm and ensuring you or your family have any medication they need can help.
“People who have an older relative or neighbour may want to check on them during the cold period as they may not want to leave their homes.
“The weather is due to warm up next week, so preventing ill health which can be worsened by cold weather is the key.”
