Clergy from the Diocese of Lichfield are celebrating after reaching their second successive Church Times Cricket Cup final.
The team, which includes a lay worker and bishops and priests from Shropshire, Staffordshire and the Black Country, recorded an emphatic victory over Salisbury to set up a final clash with Guildford.
Lichfield batted first in the match at the Oratory School in Woodcote, making 251-8.
Mark Rylands (Bishop of Shrewsbury) was Lichfield’s top scorer with 67.
Salisbury began their reply badly with a succession of quick wickets. Mike Nurton went for one, Chris Strain for two, Andy Bowerman and Paddy King out for ducks before eventually Barnes followed without making a contribution, leaving Salisbury all out for 70.
The final clash takes place at the Walker Cricket Ground – the alternate home of Middlesex – on September 8.
