A Lichfield company has been promoting sustainable travel to students at DeMontfort University.

Electric bike dealer PowaStation gave staff and students the chance to trial their goods on campus as part of an initiative to change the transport face of the university.

Organised by DeMontfort University’s transport coordinator Dr Ian Murdey, the electric bike Ride & Decide event complemented a series of themed lectures on sustainable travel. Staff and students had the chance to take the saddle on a range of bikes from ThreeeBike and Storck Raddar.

PowaStation director Graham Green said: “It’s clear that universities intend to pave the way for sustainable travel and are keen to demonstrate best practice.

“Electric bikes push all the right buttons because they make cycling a more realistic and acceptable way to travel for a wide range of people. With extra power at your disposal, it’s easy for everyone to travel in an eco-friendly way, quickly and easily. Plus it’s loads of fun.”
