The family of a Lichfield man killed in a crash six years ago say they are heartbroken after an item belonging to him was taken from outside their home.
Ben Warrington was 24 when his motorbike was hit by a lorry on the slip road of the A38 at Streethay in 2012.
His family have kept his bike chain next to their garage since his death – but the item has now been taken.
Ben’s mum Hilary said other items have also been removed from the family’s drive.
“The chain had been there for six-and-a-half years,: she said. “He took it off and left it on the drive the night before he was killed in February 2012.
“It was kept there by us as a memorial to him.”
Hilary added that the family believe the chain was taken by scrap metal collectors at around midday yesterday (September 13).
“We heard the the usual sound of the scrap metal collectors in our road, but on leaving the house ten minutes afterwards we noticed it was missing,” she said.
“This is perhaps a warning for Lichfield residents that if they hear the scrap man, go to their windows and check what they are doing as they are searching for items without permission.”
