A LICHFIELD karting star took plenty of positives from a challenging race event at Whilton Mill.
Finlay Lines got off to a flying start as he claimed pole in the New Year Sprint event.
But the opening heat proved more challenging, with the youngster crossing the line in fifth place after battling through the pack.
He bounced back in the second heat, with a composed drive to come home third.
Lines continued to push at the sharp end in the final, overcoming a number of contact incidents as he maintained his focus to take a third place podium spot.
