Michael Fabricant will pose the question at Prime Minister’s Question Time on Wednesday (October 28), despite Lichfield District Council voting against joining the regional link-up.

The local authority’s Conservative administration opted not to sign-up amid concerns over whether or not it would have the power of veto over some decisions.

But Mr Fabricant is to ask the Prime Minister about the latest developments.

“While recognising that the Northern Powerhouse is an admirable initiative which will help millions, it must not be at the expense of other regions – and in particular the West Midlands which is now out-performing the rest of the country,” he said.

” I hope to make that point in the House of Commons – if my question is reached in time.”
