Lichfield MP has claimed “all political parties” have been shaped by Margaret Thatcher.
The former Conservative Primer Minister died this morning (April 8) after suffering a stroke.
Despite Thatcher’s controversial legacy, Michael Fabricant MP said that those who revile her have “short memories”.
After the news of her death broke, he told Twitter followers: “The present face of all political parties has been shaped by the vision and courage of Margaret Thatcher.
“She transformed the face of Britain and restored its greatness when previously it had been driven by industrial unrest and an unsustainable economy.
“Margaret Thatcher transformed the face of Britain and of all political parties.
“We are all Thatcher’s children.”
Mr Fabricant also insisted that many of Thatcher’s forecasts had been proven to be correct.
He added: “The bitter and twisted blame Thatcher for closing the mines and old loss-making industries, but they were closing all over Europe and North America.
“She was highly controversial and the economic medicine was painful, but Margaret Thatcher transformed our nation for the better and all political parties now accept her basic economic truths.”
