Parents in Lichfield have questioned the length of their children’s six-weeks-holiday from school.
A survey commissioned by the Fradley Arms Hotel on Rykneld Street reveals Lichfield’s children are bored a month into their summer break.
And the study insists tensions are high at home only four weeks in with 58 per cent of mums stressed to breaking point.
@DjDane73 believes it’s difficult for families to find the time to plan activities.

However, he admits the warm weather has helped him to keep his daughter entertained.

@LichfieldLive at least the weather has been great and we’ve been able to do lots of outdoor stuff. In the past with the rain its been awful

But @iatham_photos wants the summer holidays cut from six weeks to a month.

He added that financial pressure begins to bite family budgets at this point of the year.

However, @inclusive1, a teacher explained that the six-weeks-holidays invigorates pupils ahead of the next academic year.

And Lichfield District Council argued there is plenty of entertainment within the city to keep families occupied.
Councillor Val Richards Cabinet member for Leisure Communications and Tourism said: “There are lots of activities and attractions across Lichfield District and Staffordshire to keep families entertained over the school holidays.
“We’re running a full programme of holiday clubs, events and activities at our leisure centres and Beacon Park.
“On our visit Lichfield website, we list a range of holiday activities that are taking place across the district, including Wacky Wednesdays at Erasmus Darwin House and Summer Fun at Sam’s house.
“This also has details of how to enter our Lichfield Children’s short story competition. If you’re a budding author, and aged between 7 and 12, why not write a short story to be in with a chance to win an ‘eat for a year for free’ kid’s pass at Frankie and Benny’s Lichfield?”
