A LICHFIELD rugby player has launched a fundraising campaign to help her continue her international career.
Tanya Bird has been called up to represent the Philippines in the South East Asia Women’s Championships in February.
The tournament could see her win her third and fourth international caps.
The Lichfield Women star said:
“Playing for the motherland is always a huge honour, but it comes with costs.
“We’re a small rugby union and have to cover most expenses ourselves. I’m raising funds to cover flights and accommodation for a mini camp in Manila and the tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
“Any donation is appreciated, no matter how small – and if I do reach the goal or even surpass it, the extra donations will go straight to help fund rugby programmes around the Philippines.”
A fundraising page has been set up online where people can donate.
