A trial carried out in Lichfield could see supermarket chain Tesco save £5million-a-year in fuel costs.
The company have been using a Daimler Fleetboard system on 25 lorries at their Lichfield distribution centre.
And the success of the trial has led to the supermarket giant rolling out the vehicle management technology across its entire fleet of 1,800 wagons.
The company now believes that the £2.2million deal will not only help save money but will also reduce their CO2 output by 10,000 tonnes a year.
Tesco transport director Alex Laffey told RoadTransport.com:
“The FleetBoard system has been well received by the drivers at our Lichfield operation, who have embraced it with enthusiasm. I am confident this experience will now be mirrored nationally.”
