PUPPETRY and interaction will take centre stage when a family-friendly production comes to Lichfield.
The Tale of the Loneliest Whale is at The Hub at St Mary's on 6th September.
The play was developed through workshops and conversations with children, including those with experience of autism and ADHD.
Suitable for youngsters aged four and above, it tells the story of Whale who sings alone in the sea and wonders if he is the only one like him in the whole ocean – but just when he’s about to give up, a mysterious voice echoes through the waves.
Determined to find the singer, Whale embarks on an adventure as he dives through glowing coral caves, dodges wibbly jellyfish and faces wild-eyed sea monsters.
Anthony Evans, creative director at The Hub at St Mary's, said:
"Winner of the Derek Award for Best Children’s Show at the Edinburgh Fringe, this kind and gentle tale is presented by the husband-and-wife team of writer and composer Andy Curry and performer, director and puppet-maker Gemma Curry.
"It’s the perfect treat for our younger audiences."
