Burntwood RUFC 3rd’s won 17-14 at home to Cannock 2nds.
The result was tough on the visitors who enjoyed the better of the play as both sides fought hard in atrocious weather conditions.
Cannock were the better side in the first period and yet found themselves 10-7 behind. Home wingers Lewis Aston and Nick Peplow scored a breakaway try apiece before the visitors cut the deficit with a well-deserved converted try before the break.
Early in the second half Cannock doubled their tally which, as the half wore on, seemed to have earned them the win. However, with ten minutes to go Peplow did what he does best. He backed his pace to take him round on the outside to slide in at the corner for the winning try which was superbly converted from the touchline by Mitch Carless.
