After Chasetown’s impressive victory in the cup last week they were aiming for two wins from as many games.
But their preparations were hit when their pitch was deemed unplayable and an alternative playing surface was selected.
The change seemed to unsettle the Scholars who started on the backfoot and went 1-0 down.
Prees dominated the opening period and Chasetown did well to keep them within sight.
The second half brought renewed hope and a better showing in the early stages from the Scholars until they lost player-manager Carly Edwards with a hand injury. She was replaced by Lucy Allen on the wing, but the problems got worse as Prees doubled their lead after a defensive error.
But Chasetown showed a fighting spirit and gave themselves a sniff of getting back into the game when Jade Arber pulled a goal back after a scramble in the area.
And Arber was the hero once again when captain Sarah Thompson was fouled in the box and the Scholars’ goalscorer stepped up to slot home her sixth goal in three games.
Prees battled back and had a goal disallowed, but Chasetown retaliated and went close with a couple of great efforts from Arber and Bethan Garland-Ridding.
