Match report: Chasetown Ladies 5 Cresswell Ladies 3

Published:

Chasetown Ladies started the game in great spirits and determined to show Cresswell exactly what sort of football they can play.

Within the first five minutes Chasetown went 1-0 up as Katie Rose slotted the ball home after a great through ball from Bethan Garland-Ridding left the Scholars player one-on-one with the keeper.

With spirits high the hosts got another moments later as Dani Wright spotted Jade Arber gambling on the last player and yet again the Scholars were one-on-one with the keeper and Arber hammered the ball into the bottom left corner.

Chasetown extended the lead once again as Carly Edwards squared the ball for Arber to hit the net.

At 3-0 up the Scholars were demonstrating some great football and were dominating the game.

Cresswell were granted a bit of luck as they got their first goal of the game 25 minutes in as their striker buried a free-kick.

At half-time Chasetown looked strong and eager to continue the game how they had started.

Fifteen minutes into the second half and Creswell fouled Katie Rose in the box, giving Chasetown’s Dani Wright the chance to step up and complete a perfect penalty into the bottom left corner.

Cresswell found a bit of fight in them and managed to pull back two goals. The first was a strike from just inside the box that keeper Rebecca Troth got a touch on, but unfortunately not enough to stop it. The second came when a lofted shot lobbed the Chasetown stopper to make it 4-3.

But Chasetown didn’t panic and got the final goal of the match as persistence from Garland-Ridding left her with the ball and Rose in a perfect position to score. The latter received the ball and slotted the ball into the corner of the net.
