With more than 40 players now at his disposal, Chasetown FC manager Charlie Blakemore gave a blend of youngsters, trialists and first-teamers a run-out at Heath Hayes.
The hosts took advantage of the experimental side and Scholars keeper Mark Wiggins was the busiest player on the pitch as he reacted quickly to keep out Hancox within 40 seconds.
But there was nothing he could do to prevent Degville’s header five minutes later.
Deakin added a second on 11 minutes, before Hasley volleyed in the third.
After the shock had set in Chasetown rallied hard to reduce the deficit with Danny Smith making intelligent runs and Andrew Westwood working positively, but Heath Hayes remained untroubled.
All six Chasetown subs entered the fray after the interval but the rot had already set in and there was no way out as Hayes accelerated away in top gear.
Theo Robinson did test the hosts’ defence, shooting just wide on two occasions before Mark Potts grabbed a consolation with an impressive bicycle kick.
But there was to be no comeback and Heath Hayes cruised home with three more second half strikes from Hancox, Deakin and Waple.
