Michael Fabricant has been paying tribute to his Conservative colleague David Smith after he announced his decision to stand down as Leader of Lichfield District Council.
Mr Fabricant, who is currently on the campaign trail as he bids to be re-elected in Lichfield, took time out of his schedule to hail the “vision and drive” of Cllr Smith.
He told The Lichfield Blog of his decision to hand over the baton to the “next generation” of local politicians earlier today (April 21).
Mr Fabricant added:
“I have worked with David closely since he became Leader and admire his vision and drive in promoting Lichfield District. I count him as a close friend. Although I have sometimes disagreed with the detail of his construction plans, his overall vision has benefited the City and the District.”
