Lichfield’s MP is hoping residents will line the streets when the Olympic Torch comes to the city.
The National Memorial Arboretum will welcome the London 2012 flame on June 30 before it moves through Lichfield via Streethay.
Michael Fabricant MP said: “This will be a spectacular occasion and I hope that many locals will line the route and give encouragement to the athletes taking part in the Torch Relay.
“I am particularly keen that local runners will be bearing the Torch and I shall be writing to Seb Coe about this.
“I suspect that few people outside London currently have any mood to get worked up about the Olympics, but I am sure that as we approach the opening down in Stratford, East London on July 27, people in the Midlands will begin to catch Olympic Fever!”
