LICHFIELD’S MP is calling for action to repair local roads after damage caused by a recent A38 diversion.

Vehicles were directed away from the carriageway after an 11-day closure for HS2 works.

It saw areas in Whittington and Fradley see high volumes of traffic and HGVs using narrow lanes.

Lichfield MP Dave Robertson said that while both he and local councillors had flagged concerns about the use of alternative routes, it was clear that some roads had not been suitable.

He said:

“Like many people, I am frustrated not only by having to navigate the diversion but also by the worsening potholes and damaged verges caused by this.

“I am raising this directly with both HS2 and the county council to ensure that any damage caused is properly addressed and that roads are restored to the standard residents rightly expect.”
