COLOURFUL new bunting has been put up in the city centre to mark the start of the Lichfield Festival.
More than 1,600 metres have been created in orange, yellow and blue by local business The Fabric Vault.
The project was funded via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Caroline King, Lichfield Festival’s head of partnerships and giving, said:
“The Lichfield Festival is incredibly grateful to Lichfield District Council for supporting the voluntary and community sector and helping promote the arts.
“The event is one of the country’s most eclectic multi-arts festivals, with world-class artists including Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones, The Unthanks, Tony Hadley, Mark Watson and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, all converging on the city.
“The new vibrant bunting will only add to the excitement of the festival.”
The colourful bunting will remain in place throughout the summer.
Cllr Richard Holland, cabinet member for high street and economic development at Lichfield District Council, said:
“This is a wonderful example of how we can work with talented local businesses to brighten up our city centre and make it more welcoming for residents, shoppers and visitors.
“It’s brilliant to see this handmade bunting going up in time for Lichfield Festival, adding a colourful touch and supporting our wider programme of work to boost high street vibrancy.”
