A HS2 roadshow outlining compensation plans for families and businesses impacted by the new rail line will not be repeated.
There had been calls for the event to be repeated after snowfall on the day of the original event at Lichfield Guildhall on January 18.
However, Alison Munro, managing director of HS2, rejected appeals by Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant to restage the roadshow.
“We are aware that the heavy snow made it more difficult than expected for some people to attend the Property and Compensation Information Event, but those who did were able to make use of the maps and documents on display, and to speak with a full complement of HS2 and Department for Transport staff,” she said.
“We had arranged in advance for a coach to bring people from the surrounding communities of Kings Bromley, Armitage and Handsacre to our event, and I have been informed that this service functioned normally in spite of the adverse conditions.
“The event remained open between the advertised opening hours and we were grateful of the chance to speak with a wide range of people who are potentially affected by these compensation proposals.
“We do not intend to schedule a further event between now and the approaching closing date of the consultation on January 31.”
