Chasetown FC Reserves failed to make it eight league wins on the bounce after being held to a draw in Leicestershire.
The Scholars line up for the evening included a debut for new boy Dave McGovern accompanying Jack Stone in central defence.
The poor pitch conditions restricted the Scholars usual passing game and they had to resort to a more direct style of play which didn’t suit them.
Oadby found a way through on 15 minutes and Mark Wiggins had to be at his best to produce a stylish reflex save.
A first half stalemate seemed inevitable until Oadby took the lead on 40 mins. Michael Makoni whipped a sweet cross into the box for Lewis Cully to smash a spectacular volley into the roof of the net.
Chasetown needed to make a half time adjustment and converted to a 3-5-2 formation. They started to enjoy more possession, searching for an equaliser. It came on 60 minutes, Drew Aiton leveled things up when he latched onto a Jamie Hawkins pass and drove low to the keeper’s right.
Oadby had the opportunity to seal victory with two chances in the last ten minutes when their centre forward foiled the offside trap only to miss the target in both instances.
